Pinpoints and RelicsThe moon came up and had a Medusa's gazeOn the best of all October daysWhile the wind whistled throughAnd tickled the pipes of the organIn the local church until it growledLike the Phantom of the OperaPlaying a nocturne in the nightWhile children like a tarot deck shufflingWent door to door with their goody bags so heavyBut what a glorious burden they boreAs the back alleyway by the liquor storeBecame the foggy drippy Welsh moorsWhere a mangy mutt howledLike Larry Talbot as he transformedAnd the lazy old owl who I rarely mindedBecame Spring Heeled Jack after he grabbedHis dinner from the trashcans of the local dinerAll this seemed so taken for granted back thenBut now this late in my life that soon might endSeems more precious than a Faberge egg to meThis amazing thing known as Halloween.
