His life and mine began
In the very same month and year
They never intersected
Or truthfully even came near
Yet I felt some sort of kinship
With this oddly child-like man
This environmental crusader
This blonde with the natural tan
We never met or spoke
We never knew each other
But in the universal scheme of things
He was a co-warrior and a brother
Upon moving to Alaska
It was his heart’s intention
To spend his life with grizzly bears
Now that got media attention
For thirteen years he filmed up there
Field and flower, fox and more
How very ironic those beautiful bears
Would finish him off with such gore
He literally tried to touch their lives
Which made him feel like a winner
But oh, how disturbingly twisted and sad-
The bears ate him for dinner
